All About Hydrangeas

Hydrangeas are those gorgeous shrubs with blooms that all cluster together. Did you know that the color of some Hydrangeas can change depending on the Ph level of the soil you have them planted in? I Now, it’s not necessarily the Ph level itself, but how much alum inure is available to these plants that can determine the color of their blooms. For example if you plant Hydrangeas in acidic soil, you will have blue blooms. When the soil is not acidic, then you will have more pink blooms… How cool is that? Anyways, lets talk about how you can take care of these plants and get the most gorgeous blooms that you possibly can!

  • White Hydrangea flowers are not affected by Ph level of the soil.
  • These plants need minimal daily care and love to live in the shade or in the part sun.
  • Hydrangeas blooms will last from Summer into Fall.
  • Hydrangeas can flower in various colors such as blue, green, pink, purple, and white.
  • When planting in the ground, you’d want to plant them 3 to 10 feet apart so they can grow to their full potential.
  • Hydrangeas do well in both containers such as pots as well as in the ground.
  • Basic maintenance for these plants is required, such as watering and pruning occasionally.

Good luck and happy gardening!
